Dear Friends and Neighbors,
My name is Noreen McKee, and I’m proud to announce my candidacy for Troy City Council in District 4.
I’ve spent my adult life fighting for fairness, transparency, and equity—and I’m running to bring those same values to City Hall. As a passionate community advocate, I’ve worked hard to ensure local government serves everyone.
When Troy’s voters needed better access to the ballot box, I led the successful campaign to bring early voting to our city—making it easier for working families, people of color, and those relying on public transit to make their voices heard. And when the Burdett Birth Center was on the brink of closing, I testified before Attorney General Letitia James to fight for its survival.
I bring over 25 years of experience as a CPA, former auditor, and small business owner in the financial industry. I understand the critical importance of fiscal responsibility—and I’m deeply concerned by what I see happening in our city government today.
Since the current GOP-led administration took office in January 2024, not a single quarterly financial report has been released. We’ve seen two comptrollers resign—most recently after just two months—signaling chaos and a troubling lack of transparency in Troy’s financial leadership.
Troy has recently emerged from a painful 25-year period of austerity, having paid off massive debt from decades of mismanagement. We can’t afford to go backwards now.
This race will be tough. In June, I’ll face a Republican-endorsed challenger who switched parties at the last minute to run against me in the Democratic primary—while also appearing on the Republican line in November. Yes, it’s legal in New York.
With a Republican majority on the City Council consistently approving the Mayor’s agenda, strong, independent voices are more critical than ever. Winning just one seat would restore a Democratic majority—and with it, the vital checks and balances our city urgently needs.

With Gratitude
